Event Description
Lend a hand in Dane County’s seed shed to continue processing the seed harvest from hundreds of species of native plants. Prairie seeds have been collected and cleaned by volunteers and now we need to weigh, bag, and mix them. This seed will eventually end up at a variety of prairie planting throughout Dane County. We have hundreds of bags to process and your help would be greatly appreciated!
What to know/bring: No prior experience is needed. All tools and training will be provided. We will be working indoors in a heated building with bathroom access. There is drinking water available but participants can bring their own water bottles and a snack if they'd like. The weighing and bagging won't be so dusty, and there are seated roles available. The mixing shifts will require standing and moving most of the time and will result in some dust. As always we'll have masks and other PPE on hand.
Children are welcome as long as they are supervised by a parent or adult chaperone (youth 16 and older can attend unsupervised).
Space is limited and registration is required. Follow the links below to sign up for the event you are interested in. You will need to create an account with our volunteer portal in order to register.
