Public Hearing on Proposed 2024 Dane County Parks Fee Increases

Event Dates

  • Wednesday, 09/06/2023 5:30 p.m.

Event Description

The Dane County Park Commission will hold a hybrid public hearing regarding proposed 2024 park fee increases. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, September 6 at 5:30 pm. Those interested in participating can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.

The Dane County Park Commission sets the fee structure for services provided in county parks. Each year, the fees are evaluated and adjusted in order to offset operational and maintenance costs associated with various park activities. The Dane County Park Commission is proposing to keep the majority of permit fees the same for 2024. There are increases proposed for the Tenney Lock permit, horse trail permit, and limited archery access permit. For many of these permits, the last fee increase was over a decade ago. The Dane County Park Commission is also proposing a simplification of the shelter reservation fee schedule and a nominal increase in camping reservation fees.

In addition to fee increases, there are several other proposed changes, including expanding the senior/disabled/military/veteran discount to the annual disc golf permit and the Tenney Lock permit, and adding a metal detecting permit fee.
