Lens & Landscape: Exploring Silverwood Through Photography

Join Dane County Parks, PhotoMidwest and Friends of Silverwood Park for a unique photography event at historic Silverwood County Park, near Albion and just a short drive from Madison.

The event will begin with indoor presentations in the historic farmhouse, including an overview of the history of the property, by the Friends of Silverwood Park, and a presentation by Dane County Land & Water Resources Department photographer, Sevie Kenyon, as he shares some of his favorite photos and tells you about some secret and not-so-secret photography spots in the Dane County Park system.

Afterwards, volunteers from PhotoMidwest will lead small groups to explore and take photos in different areas of the park, including prairie, water, woods, wildlife and historic buildings. Volunteers will answer questions about your camera and help you find ways to create unforgettable photos.

To end, we will have an optional gathering back at the farmhouse to socialize and enjoy some food together. Bring a picnic dinner or purchase a hamburger or hot dog from Boy Scout Troop 422, talk with new friends, and stay for sunset! 

What to Bring: bring your camera of choice (phone cameras are just fine!), clothing suitable for the weather, water, picnic (optional) etc.

Who: Photographers of all levels and families are welcome, but this event is best suited for ages 12 and up. Each person must register as seats are limited.

Weather: This event will happen rain or shine but will be canceled in the event of extreme weather. Registered attendees will be notified if the event will be canceled.
