Yule Log Decorating - Family Workshop
Event Dates
- Saturday, 12/07/2024 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Event Description
Decorate a yule log to use as a beautiful centerpiece then follow the ancient tradition of burning your yule log to celebrate the Winter Solstice (December 21st), the shortest and darkest day of the year. Workshops will take place indoors in the Center for Rural History; all materials included.
We'll first read The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper and talk briefly about the traditions and meaning of the Winter Solstice. Then you'll have free time to decorate your own yule log, make a wish for the new year, and sip on hot cocoa.
Best suited for ages 3-10, but all ages welcome.
