Event Description

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is hosting our 2nd Annual Veteran Shoot Event at the Dane County Training Center in Waunakee, WI. The event will consist of an open house social event where Veterans are free to network and mingle with other veterans while enjoying some donated snacks, beverages, and lunch (while supplies last).  Resource tables from various Veterans organization will be present as well as therapy dogs. In addition to the social event we will be hosting a free open shoot and shooting competition (rifle only). All Veterans will receive a door prize ticket when they arrive and at noon Sheriff Barrett will be picking the Winner of the following donated prizes (must be present to win); BCM rifle,  ADM Rifle, Vortex red dot, Vortex scope, Top Pack Gift card and other generous donations. Sheriff Barrett will also be announcing the winners of the shooting competition and presenting their prizes promptly at noon.

The social portion of the event does not require pre-registration, and you do not need to participate in the shooting to attend.  Please feel free to come join us during the event to network, obtain resources, and enjoy some free food.

All shooting participants must pre-register, bring their own rifle, and ammunition. The rifle competition will be scored in three different categories; Iron Sights, non-magnified optics, magnified optics. Accommodations can be made for Veterans with disabilities if requested ahead of time. If you are interested in the open shoot but don’t have your own rifle, limited rifles/optics may be provided for use if requested. This event will be a rifle only, designed around modern military style rifles. Please leave all other firearms at home. DCSO will provided eye and ear protection to those in need.
