Bird & Nature Walk on National Trails Day

Event Description

Join a naturalist-led bird and nature walk featuring the Lower Yahara River Trail in the Capital Springs Recreation Area! 

Highlights include stunning views from a mile-long boardwalk that intersects Lake Waubesa and Upper Mud Lake, mature prairie after a spring prescribed burn, and quiet lakeshore woodlands.  All ages welcome.

Walk Leader:  Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area’s naturalist, Clare Carlson

Signup:  Please contact Clare carlson.clare@danecounty.gov with the number in your group. Maximum attendance is 30 people.

Equipment:  Please bring a pair of binoculars if you have them.

Difficulty level:  The route is mostly level and paved, but the woodland trail has a steep hill.

COVID Safety:  We follow Public Health Madison and Dane County: publichealthmdc.com/coronavirus.

Inclement Weather Policy:  If the walk must be cancelled, attendees will be emailed by 8am on 6/5.
