Response to Highland Park, IL Mass Killing
Madison, WI. July 7, 2022 - The Dane County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences and prayers to all who were killed, injured, or affected in the Highland Park, IL mass killing on July 4, 2022. The Dane County community will continue to extend our support as the families and their community move toward healing.
July 4th celebrations are an American tradition with festivities occurring in every small town and large city in this country. The senseless attack at a 4th of July Parade was an emotional attack on every community in America.
Recent news stories state the person arrested for the Highland Park mass killing reportedly visited the Dane County area. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office at this point is not actively involved in the investigation.
Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said, “Public safety is the Dane County Sheriff’s Office top priority and we will continue to work diligently with all of our state, local and federal law enforcement partners to maintain a peaceful community. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continues to be vigilant in our patrols and thorough in our investigation as we work towards increasing public safety.”
