The update at Thursday’s meeting will highlight the results of the Task Force’s first year of work and present the first set of recommendations from the Task Force focused on making internet access more affordable and accessible in Dane County. Created in 2021 by the County Board, the 15-member Task Force met from July 2021-June 2022. Members of the Task Force represented diverse perspectives on this complex issues including healthcare, education, economic development, and municipalities. The County Board recently approved a resolution that extends the Task Force’s work until the end of 2024.

"The work of the Task Force is critically important to the future of businesses, schools, health care providers, and residents in Dane County. Increasing access and affordability of broadband is a necessity because the lack of that access affects so many people and so many sectors of our economy," said County Board Supervisor Melissa Ratcliff, Chair of the Task Force.  "I look forward to continuing to raise awareness of the issue and to working on innovative solutions in order to bring reliable, affordable internet access to every Dane County home and business."
