The Dane County Public Protection and Judiciary Committee and Health and Human Needs Committee will be holding a joint meeting on Thursday, June 22 at 5:30.

The meeting will include presentations from staff on the crisis system including update exploring roles and opportunities for a county-wide response, as well as a report on teen mental health, and the status of opioid settlements and priorities to reduce harm in light of the addiction crisis.

"This meeting recognizes that policy and funding decisions impacting Dane County residents are never made in a vacuum. Our complex systems are often siloed, and my hope is that through more intentional collaboration across our Committees, we can wrap systems and supports more effectively around citizens who need them most,” said County Board Supervisor Richelle Andrae (District 11), Chair of the Public Protection and Judiciary Committee.

The joint meeting will provide a forum to explore inter-departmental strategies and priorities to reduce disparities and increase collaboration on issues that span the justice and human services systems.

County Board Supervisor Heidi Wegleitner (District 2), Chair of the Health and Human Needs Committee said, “I’m grateful for the hard work of county staff and our providers to help transform our crisis response system and I look forward to their update. Our neighbors experiencing a behavioral health crisis deserve health care and housing, not criminalization and punishment.”

The agenda for the meeting is available here along with information to connect virtually, or attend in person, or register to speak at the meeting.
