The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating a demonstration by Axon today at the Law Enforcement Training Center. Law enforcement from throughout the state, as well as county leaders and media are invited to participate in the demonstration, which will highlight the newest technologies in fleet, body and drone cameras, Tasers and virtual reality training. The body-worn cameras on display will be the same equipment used in the Sheriff’s Office pilot project beginning later this summer.

“Now that funds have been approved and the equipment has been purchased, we will begin training our staff on the new body-worn camera technology,” said Sheriff Kalvin Barrett. “Transparency from law enforcement is key to reinforcing community trust, and body-worn cameras can help us provide that.”

As part of the 2024 budget, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office will transition to Axon’s Taser 10 later this year, a long-overdue overdue update to the Taser X26p currently carried by deputies. “Our current Tasers will soon be unsupported by Axon due to the outdated technology,” said Sheriff Barrett. “Implementing this new equipment will make for a safer response for everyone involved.”

Axon’s systems are integrated and designed to provide a seamless process of filming, storing and sharing video. For more information on the Axon products, go to www.axon.com
