Sheriff’s Office Welcomes New Deputies

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming a new class of deputies. Eight deputies will be sworn in by Sheriff Kalvin Barrett on Thursday, August 1st at 1:30 pm in the Dane County Courthouse, Jury Assembly Room. They are: • Michael R. Holmes, 30 of Edgerton • Steven Islas, 22 of Waukesha • Matthew Krueger, 50 of Neshkoro • Daniel Kurth, 31 of Monroe • Alejandro Marin Gomez, 21 of Madison • Anthony Moreno, 23 of Montgomery, IL • Willie Vance-Jenkins, 31 of Janesville • Kyle Write, 25 of Oshkosh The group brings various experiences and backgrounds to the Sheriff’s Office, two with previous law enforcement experience. Depending on their prior level of training, new deputies will attend the Dane County Sheriff’s Office Jail and/or Law Enforcement Academies and receive on-the-job training. Their first assignment will be in the Dane County Jail, where they will serve a two-year probationary period. The positions became available due to retirements and vacancies that occurred in the past year.
