Mental Health Crisis in Town of Black Earth Ends Tragically

Dane County, WI – On November 30, 2024, at approximately 4:44 PM, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a single individual experiencing a mental health crisis in the area of Schultz Road and Kahl Road in the Town of Black Earth.
Due to the nature of the incident, a significant law enforcement presence was visible in the area, including crisis negotiators and drone teams which were deployed to assist in locating and supporting the individual.
Tragically, the individual was later found deceased. There is no threat to the public, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
