Dane County Board Chair Patrick Miles (District 34) announced the appointment of Keith Furman to County Board Supervisor, District 10 on the west side of Madison. Last week Miles held a public hearing to hear from applicants for the vacancy created by the resignation of Supervisor Aaron Collins.
Keith Furman served as a Madison Alder on the Common Council from 2018 to 2023, including a term as Common Council President in his final year. At the hearing, Furman highlighted his commitment to community engagement and expressed his intention to prioritize outreach and communication with constituents if appointed.
The full Board will consider the appointment of Furman at the December 19th meeting. Contingent upon County Board approval, Furman will immediately be sworn in and participate in the remainder of the meeting.
Furman will serve as Supervisor for an interim period until a special election is held on April 1, 2025.
Regarding this appointment, Furman said "I am deeply grateful for the recommendation to be appointed to the District 10 vacancy. I look forward to representing the residents of District 10 and ensuring their voices are heard in county government. I am excited to work collaboratively with my fellow supervisors, our new County Executive, and our dedicated county staff to continue making Dane County a safe, healthy, and vibrant community for all residents."
