MADISON, Wis. – Dane County is proud to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice of law enforcement agencies across our community during National Police Week. Thanks to the service of the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and municipal police departments throughout the region, residents are able to live, work, and raise their families in safe and thriving neighborhoods.
“Law enforcement officers serve on the front lines of public safety, often without recognition,” said Dane County Executive Melissa Agard. “We owe a debt of gratitude to every officer—and to their families—who make daily sacrifices to protect and serve. Their work makes our communities stronger, and this week, we pause to honor their service and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
Each year, National Police Week provides an important opportunity to reflect on the risks law enforcement officers take in the line of duty and to honor those who have given their lives protecting others.
“Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day, working to ensure others are able to return home safely each night,” said Dane County Emergency Management Director Charles A. Tubbs, Sr. “As a retired police chief, I know first-hand the hard work and dedication of these women and men in uniform. Emergency Management is proud to work alongside law enforcement every day to help make Dane County a safer place.”
Dane County encourages all residents to take a moment this week to thank the officers and public safety personnel who work year-round to keep our communities secure and resilient.
