Latest Information on Sun Prairie Death Investigation

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding human remains found in a manure pit in the Town of Sun Prairie is ongoing; however, preliminary findings indicate the death of a 62-year-old man appears to be accidental.

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 2100 block of State Highway 19 at approximately 6:45 a.m. on August 9th. The man, who did not have a permanent address, was not employed by or otherwise associated with the farm where the incident occurred.

An autopsy was conducted by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office, though efforts are still underway to notify the man’s next of kin.
