Generational economic development opportunity for our community
DANE COUNTY - Dane County Executive Melissa Agard today announced that Dane County has formally accepted a proposal for the renovation of the Veterans Memorial Coliseum and is entering into negotiations with Frank Productions (FPC Live), marking a major milestone for the future of the Alliant Energy Center campus and the county’s economic growth.
The County has issued an intent to contract with FPC Live / Live Nation and will now move forward with negotiations on a historic public-private partnership that would bring nearly $100 million in private investment to upgrade the site, significantly limiting county financial liability while unlocking major new opportunities for the campus and surrounding community.
“This is a generational opportunity for Dane County,” said County Executive Agard. “By engaging with Frank Productions, we are working to bring new life, energy, and world-class entertainment to the Veterans Memorial Coliseum while limiting the County’s financial exposure and reducing risk for taxpayers. This proposal puts private investment to work for the public good. While the devil will be in the details, I look forward to negotiating with Frank Productions, a staple in our community since the 1960’s.”
Under the proposal, Frank Productions would invest nearly $100 million into the Coliseum, transforming the historic venue into a modern, flexible entertainment destination capable of hosting concerts, performances, and community events year-round. The structure of the proposal places most of the financial responsibility on the private partner, helping protect taxpayers while positioning the County to benefit from increased activity, tourism, and economic impact.
“This project is a game-changer for the entire Alliant Energy Center campus,” said Alliant Energy Center Director Kevin Scheibler. “A renovated Coliseum creates momentum well beyond one venue - driving new activity, strengthening our ability to attract events, and serving as a catalyst for continued investment in the Exhibition Hall and future development across the campus.”
Negotiations between Dane County and Frank Productions will continue in the coming months. Any final agreement will be subject to review and approval by the Dane County Board. A copy of the proposal can be accessed HERE. More information will be shared as negotiations progress.
