The Dane County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind citizens of the public availability at the Dane County Law Enforcement shooting range. Thanks to an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the public has access to the training center range near Waunakee from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays through August.
For a small fee of $10.00, shooters have access to all five shooting ranges. Each of the five ranges provides a different type of shooting environment. They include a 100 yard rifle range, and a 15 yard pistol range. Shooters are not limited in the time they spend on the range, unless all ranges are full and others are waiting. Target stands are provided, but shooters should bring their own eye and ear protection.
Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Also, a minor must be at least 12-years-old and present proof of enrollment or completion of the DNR Hunter Safety Program.
The Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center is located at 5184 Highway 19 in the town of Westport, just one mile east of the intersection of Highway 113 and CTH I.
