– Just before 3:30 pm on Monday, January 12th, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies received information from the Dane County Communications Center of a man that had gone unconscious at Club 51, a bar/restaurant located at 7123 US Highway 51 in the Village of Deforest.

Deputy Brad Schroeder and his patrol trainee Deputy Gerald King were able to respond immediately.  When they arrived, they found Alvin M. Cameron, age 63 of Deforest, lying on the floor near the bar area, being attended to by other patrons.  He did not have a pulse and was not breathing.  The deputies immediately began chest compressions and ultimately used their AED to revive Mr. Cameron, who was then transported by EMS to Meriter Hospital.

Deputy Schroeder and Deputy King will be nominated to receive a life saving pin at the Dane County Sheriff’s Office annual awards ceremony this spring.  Deputy King has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2001, and Deputy Schroeder has been a deputy Sheriff since 2000, and was also named Officer of the Year in 2014 by the VFW.
