The start of warm weather and end of school creates the perfect opportunity for families to get outside and enjoy their Dane County Parks, County Executive Joe Parisi announced today. To help exemplify the wide range of activities the County’s more than 30 parks have to offer, Dane County is featuring “Five Free Weekends of Park Fun,” starting with free disc golf and bike trail riding this weekend.

“One of the many reasons Dane County continues to lead the way on private sector job growth and adds more new residents than anywhere else is our incredible quality of life,” County Executive Joe Parisi said. “Our dozens of county parks and wildlife areas along with our lakes and trails are a big part of why this is the perfect place to work, play, and live. While our parks are always in season, there’s no better time than these warm summer weekends to get out and enjoy our one-of-a-kind Dane County Parks.”

The County has two premier disc golf courses, Vallarta-Ast at Token Creek County Park and Capital Springs which is part of the Capital Springs Recreation Area. Additionally, the County is hosting a “ride free” day this Saturday June 4th, where cyclists can hop on state trails including the Capital City Trail without a permit.

Following free disc golf and state trail access this weekend, Dane County will waive permit charges at its facilities for the following park activities on the following Saturdays:
