(Madison, WI) The Tenney Lock will have extended hours for both Shake the Lake on Saturday, June 25th and for the Fourth of July Holiday weekend from Thursday, June 30th through Monday, July 4th.  The Tenney Lock allows access between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona on the Yahara River.

As a safety precaution, a Slow-no-wake rule will be enforced on Lake Monona on Saturday, June 25th from 8:00pm until midnight for Shake the Lake. Boaters are asked to operate at the minimum speed at which a motorized watercraft is able to move and maintain adequate steerage control.  In the event of severe weather the rain date is Sunday, June 26th. Learn more about Dane County Parks Slow-no-wake requirements at (https://www.countyofdane.com/slow_no_wake.aspx).

In addition, please be aware that there will be a large “No Entry” area at the west end of Lake Monona surrounding the staging site for the Shake the Lake event.  The “No Entry” area,  located in front of the Monona Terrace, will be marked with warning buoys and strictly enforced.

Boaters are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and familiarize themselves with direct access points to shelter along the lake shore.

Clearance height to travel through the Tenney Lock is 6-8 feet, however, there may be bridges between Lake Mendota and Lake Mendota where the clearance height may be less.  The height will depend on the water elevation.
