County Executive Joe Parisi is declaring a state of emergency following last night’s record rains and ongoing flooding affecting Dane County.

Dane County is declaring a slow, no wake on Lakes Mendota, Monona, and Waubesa effective immediately. Lakes have seen significant rises in water levels overnight.

Highway M in the Town of Westport is now closed between Fox Bluff Road and Signature Drive due to a washout.

There continue to be reports of flooding affecting roads and homes across the western half of Dane County and a number of highways remain closed.

The Highway 14 bridge over Black Earth Creek has washed out. The state has closed Highway 14 at Highway 60 in Sauk County. Traffic is being detoured from Highway 14 to Highway 60 to Highway 12.

Private property owners with damage are being asked to call 2-1-1.

Businesses that have experienced flood damage are encouraged to contact their local unit of government to document those losses in preparation of a possible disaster assistance application.
