330 PM Flooding Update – Dane County Emergency Management

Flooding issues have developed in the Village of Belleville as a result of significant rains in the Sugar River watershed.  Sandbagging efforts are underway as the river is now flooding village neighborhoods.

 

Here’s an update on current road closures:

 

The following roads remain closed:

 

Highway M in Town of Westport – between Fox Bluff and Signature

Detour:

 

A Detour has been set up in Sauk County detouring traffic from Hwy 14 to Hwy 60 to Hwy 12.

 

Additinoal:

 

The American Red Cross and Salvation Army will be opening three shelters in western Dane County beginning at 4 p.m.

 

The shelters are:

 

Glacier Creek Middle School in Cross Plains

 

Mazomanie Elementary School in Mazomanie

 

Madison West High School in Madison

 

The Salvation Army will be serving an evening meal at Glacier Creek in Cross Plains and Mazomanie Elementary in Mazomanie. The Red Cross will be serving a meal at Madison West.

 

Dane County is under a state of emergency following last night’s record rains and ongoing flooding affecting Dane County. 

 

Slow, no wake orders are now in effect for Lakes Mendota, Monona, and Waubesa.

 

The Cap City Bike Trail is now closed in the City of Fitchburg west of Fish Hatchery Road to the Badger State Trail due to washouts.

 

Private property owners with damage are being asked to call 2-1-1 or 877-947-2211.

 

Businesses that have experienced flood damage are encouraged to contact their local unit of government to document those losses in preparation of a possible disaster assistance application.
